Birmingham, Ala. - Two of the top women's soccer teams in Conference USA met up Friday night at the West Campus Field on the campus of UAB, with the Blazers coming out on top, taking a 1-0 decision over the TCU Horned Frogs. The Blazers won on the strength of a late goal. The Horned Frogs saw their five match conference win streak come to an end as well as their three match win-streak.

The two teams battled to a 0-0 tie in the first half, with TCU outshooting the Blazers 4-3 in the half. Both goalkeeper's made two saves in the half to keep the game scoreless. But things took off in the second-half as UAB came out gunning.

UAB came out of halftime, piling up 10 shots to just four taken by TCU. TCU had their chances to get on the board but Blazers' goalkeeper Katie Forbis was there to make the saves, picking up her third consecutive shutout. Both Jessi Moore (Grapevine, Texas) and Angie Nickens (Dallas, Texas) had chances, but Forbis made the stops she had to to help her team get the win.

UAB earned seven corners to the Horned Frogs two and finally took advantage of the chances and finally put one in the back of the net. Jessica Samulski took the corner and put it in the perfect place for a waiting Briana McCarty who was there for the header and put it past Katie Buchanan (Plano, Texas) for the game-winner.

The Frogs couldn't get the equalizer and saw their winning-streak come to an end. Moore took four shots to lead the Frog offense, while putting two on goal. UAB outshot TCU 13-8 in the game, with both teams taking five shots on goal. Buchanan made four saves, while Forbis made five.

With the loss, the Frogs record falls to 8-7-1 overall and 6-2 in C-USA action. The Frogs take tomorrow off as they head to Tampa, Fla for their final road match of the regular season as they take on the Bulls of USF. Game time at USF Soccer Stadium is set for 12:00 on Sunday.
