KANSAS CITY -- It took eight rounds in the shootout to decide whether TCU or Baylor would advance to the semifinals. The Horned Frogs came up a shot short after playing to a 1-1 draw with the Bears.

The Rundown
Baylor and TCU played to a scoreless draw in the first half. The Horned Frogs dominated the first 15 minutes of the match but couldn't get a shot towards net. Baylor turned the tides in the middle of the half and had the best look on goal in the frame on a header by McKenna Martin that went wide.

Baylor got off to a quick start in the second half, but the Frogs held strong and kept the game scoreless into the 68th minute when TCU took advantage of a corner kick.

Faith Carter's shot from distance ticked off a Baylor player and over the back line setting up a corner kick. Emma Heckendorn took the kick and placed it perfectly for Meghan Murphy, who headed in the first goal of the match.

Baylor put the pressure on trying to get the equalizer. A foul just outside the penalty area gave the Bears the chance. Bri Campos fired the ball through the defensive wall to tie the game at one.

Courtney Hofer was huge in the extra sessions as she made three combined saves in the two frames to push the game to penalty kicks. Hofer finished the match with nine saves.

In penalty kicks, each team was guaranteed five shots. Both teams missed one, sending it to sudden death penalty kicks. A missed kick in the eighth round by the Horned Frogs proved costly as Baylor converted to advance.

Quotes of the Game
Head Coach Eric Bell
"I told them at the end of the game that I have nothing but respect and gratitude for the effort they put in today. We gave ourselves a chance to be successful, but unfortunately it didn't go our way at the end. The effort is key to me as we move forward as a program; it's something to build on. Hopefully this experience fuels us for the future."

"Makenzie and Bobbi will have a legacy of starting the change. They've been here with us since day one and they have been through some tough times. Looking at the season in its totality, both of them have been a part of what we are trying to do. I will always hold a bit of gratitude to them forever because of what they have done for our program. They will always be held in high esteem in our program."

"You take the step of now its ties, but now we need to make the step to where we get wins instead of ties. It's hard, but we have to get better this spring. We have some new blood coming in that will help make us better going forward. I think we will continue to be a force in this league and hopefully finish higher in the standings."
