Williams Drafted In Fourth Round

Jan. 18, 2018

FORT WORTH – TCU women’s soccer defender Ryan Williams made history on Thursday when she was selected with the 40th pick of the 2018 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) College Draft by the North Carolina Courage. She is the first-ever TCU soccer player to be drafted.

A staple on the back line the last four years, Williams played in all but one game in her career. She started 79 of the 80 games she played in, while totaling over 7,100 minutes on the field. She has played the entirety of 65 career matches.

A member of the 2014 Big 12 All-Newcomer team, Williams is a four-time academic all-conference performer. She was named first-team all-Big 12 in 2017 and earned first-team All-South Region recognition.

She departs TCU fourth all-time with 15 career assists, including a career-high six in 2017. Additionally, she tallied one goal in 2017. Williams helped TCU tally 30 shutouts.
