Feb. 9, 2018

FORT WORTH – A current TCU women’s soccer player and a future member of the team were invited to the U-18 USA Soccer’s Women’s National Team training camp in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. Yazmeen Ryan and Messiah Bright were two of 24 players invited to the U-18 camp.

The U-18 and U-19 training camps will run concurrently from Feb. 10-17. For the U-18 WNT, head coach Jaime Frias has called up 24 players, with four born in 1999 and the remainder in 2000. In the U-18 camp are six college players and 18 youth club players, including 13 from U.S. Soccer Development Academy clubs.

All 48 players in this camp are age-eligible for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup should they earn themselves a future call-up to Jitka Klimkova’s U-20 side as it prepares for the World Cup in France this August. The age cut-off for the World Cup is players born on or after January 1, 1998.

TCU has some history with the Women’s National Team as Kayla Hill participated in the U-19 National Training Camp in January of 2016. Emily Alvarado and Tayla Christensen also have international experience competing with Mexico and New Zealand, respectively.
