Future Horned Frog Wins U19 Gold

June 21, 2017

FORT WORTH, Texas — Incoming TCU freshman Izzy Juarez, who signed in April to play soccer for the Horned Frogs, won the gold medal in the U19 age group at the 2017 National Junior Olympics in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.

"We worked extremely hard with all the odds we were confronted with," Juarez said. "Overall, it was an extremely emotional and grateful feeling to win gold."

Her team, IME U19, played UNAM; Nayarit; Baja, California; and CD de Mexico, en route winning the gold at the prestigious event held June 5-9.

"What a wonderful opportunity for Izzy,” TCU soccer coach Eric Bell said. “The international experience gained from such an event is immeasurable. This will not only help her in the future but TCU Soccer benefits as well."

Juarez, a native of San Dimas, California, prepped at Bishop Amat Memorial High School and played club soccer for Legends FC where she helped lead her club to the USYSA National Championship in 2013 and 2015.
