Soccer Kicks Off Preseason Camp Wednesday

Aug. 2, 2016

FORT WORTH – TCU women’s soccer head coach Eric Bell will open his fifth training camp Wednesday morning. Eighteen letterwinners from last season return and the team also welcomes seven newcomers.

The first full day of training features the squad’s annual fitness test Wednesday morning followed by the first full practice session in the evening. The 16-day preseason camp will include a trio of two-a-days and a pair of exhibition contests. A new addition to fall camp this year is an out of town team building trip set for Aug. 5-6.

Seven of the 18 returners are entering their senior campaign. The team has eight of 11 starters returning, including both Shannon Coffer and Courtney Hofer who split starts in goal in 2015.

In 2016 some Horned Frogs will be looking to climb the charts in the TCU record book, while others boast an impressive games played streak. Michelle Prokof’s 21 goals are tied for fifth most all-time as are her 51 career points. Coffer is on pace to set the all-time school record for career goals against average. She enters the season with a 0.86 career GAA. Lauren Sajewich holds the distinction of having played in all 57 games in her career.

The 2016 regular season gets underway on Aug. 19 at Maryland. The team will play three road matches to begin the year before opening the 10-game home slate on Sept. 2 against Illinois.
