Brittany Slyman scored the Frogs’ lone goal on the weekend, the gamewinner in Friday’s 1-0 win over Montana. Maddy Courvoisier provided the assist on Slyman’s goal. It was her first career point at TCU. Vittoria Arnold made four saves to tally her first shutout of the season. She also notched four saves in Sunday’s loss.

Rice is coming off its first victory of the season, a 2-0 defeat of McNeese State. Holly Hargreaves and Lauren Hughes provided the goals and the combination of Amy Czyz and Andie Obermeyer in goal led the Owls to victory. The win came on the heels of a hard-fought 1-1 tie with LSU on Friday night. The Owls played the final 25 minutes down a player due to a red card.

Holly Hargreaves has scored in back-to-back games, scoring the lone goal against the Tigers and providing the gamewinner against McNeese State. Amy Czyz is the main goalkeeper for the Owls, stopping 20 of the 22 shots that have come her way this season.

TCU and Rice will be meeting for the 10th time on the pitch. The series is deadlocked at 4-4-1. Six of the meetings have come in Fort Worth. In matches played at Rice, the series is also tied at 1-1-1. TCU took a 2-1 win over the Owls in its last visit on Sept. 6, 2009. Lizzy Karoly and Kaylie Garcia score back-to-back goals to lead the Frogs to victory.

Brittany Slyman provided the gamewinning goal in Friday’s 1-0 victory over Montana. For the junior, the goal was a long time coming. She last found the back of the net against Houston Baptist on Oct. 3, 2010.

Her goal was a product of hard work as she fired five shots towards the net, two of which found their way on goal. She was finally rewarded in the 54th minute as she took a feed from Maddy Courvoisier and blasted a shot high over the outstretched hands of the Grizzlies goalkeeper. The goal was the fourth of her career. She also scored at UTSA on Sept. 24, 2010 and against Texas Southern on Aug. 22, 2010.

Vittoria Arnold has stepped into the starting goalkeeper role and taken a firm grasp of the duties. She has played all 270 minutes in goal so far this season.

Arnold has yet to yield a first half goal and has stopped 11 of 14 shots faced. The 11 saves ranks third in the Big 12, while her average of 3.67 saves per game is second best in the league. She notched her first shutout in a TCU uniform Friday, stopping all four Montana shots that she faced.
