FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU senior midfielder Kaylie Garcia has been named Mountain West Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Garcia, a native of Oklahoma City, Okla., helped propel TCU to a 3-1 road victory at Texas State on Friday night. In her second game back from the World University Games, Garcia tallied a goal and an assist, while also pacing the Horned Frogs with three shots on goal.
With the match tied, 1-1, Garcia fired a shot through the left corner of the net in the 52nd minute to give TCU a 2-1 advantage. Her lead pass to teammate Kristen Halverson in the 69th minute secured the match in TCU’s favor and gave the senior midfielder three total points for the contest.
The conference honor is the first of Garcia’s career and is the first accolade for TCU this fall.
TCU will hit the road for three-straight matches, starting with Toledo (Sept. 9) and Hofstra (Sept. 11) as part of the Red Raider Classic in Lubbock, Texas.
