Koch Named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week

FORT WORTH - TCU soccer freshman Makenzie Koch has been named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week for her performances against SMU and Texas State this past week. She is the first Horned Frog soccer player to be honored by the league.
Koch scored her first career goal in Friday's loss to SMU. Her penalty kick tally in the 78th minute tied the game at one. She played all 90 minutes in that game.
In Sunday's win over Texas State, she notched her first career multi-point game with a goal and an assist. She dished out the assist on the go-ahead goal in the sixth minute, then converted on her second penalty kick of the weekend to make it a 2-0 contest.
Koch started both matches and played 152 minutes. She converted both of her shots on goal and finished the weekend with five points (two goals and an assist).
TCU wraps up a four-match homestand Friday night when it hosts Houston Baptist.Match time is set for 7 p.m. at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.
