Former Frog Alvarado Stars for Mexico

Former TCU women's soccer player Mónica Alvarado is currently a defender starring with the Mexican Women's National Team. This is her third stint with the national team.

Mexico will face the U.S Women's national team tonight in Sahlen's Stadium in Rochester, New York. Tonight will be the culmination of a two-game-set between the CONCACAF competitors. The match will be televised at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN2.

Alvarado joined the Mexican National Team in 2011. She earned a spot on the 2011 World Cup squad and traveled internationally with the team, facing England, New Zealand and the eventual 2011 champion, Japan. She has five international game appearances with the national squad. She also participated in the 2010 U-20 World Cup.

She had an impressive collegiate career at TCU, starting in all 40 games she played in a Horned Frog uniform. Alvarado led the Frogs with seven goals her senior year and wrapped up her career with eight total goals and three assists.
