FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU Athletics has named volleyball's Yvonne Igodan and soccer's Lauren Sajewich as its Muscle Milk Athletes of the Week for their recent performances.
Igodan, a senior, was the Spartan Spiketacular MVP last weekend, leading the Horned Frogs to their second straight tournament title. The Houston native had a career-high 17 kills and six blocks in the final game, a 3-1 win over host UNC Greensboro. Igodan finished the tournament with 3.4 kills per set and a .456 hitting percentage.
The squad wrapped up non-conference play with an 11-3 record and will open Big 12 play when Texas comes to town Wednesday. The 6:30 p.m. match is sold out but will be televised on FSSW+.
Sajewich, a freshman from Frankfort, Ill., anchored the Horned Frogs' impressive defensive performance over the weekend. TCU battled No. 14 Denver to a 1-1 draw Friday night and routed Central Arkansas, 3-0, Sunday afternoon. Denver was only able to get off six shots on goal through two periods and two overtimes, while UCA had just three.
The Horned Frogs will also begin their Big 12 slate against Texas, except they will be traveling to Austin for a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday night. The game will air on the Longhorn Network.
