TCU Athletes of the Week

Sept. 26, 2017

FORT WORTH, Texas – Nick Orr of football and Tara Smith of women’s soccer have been named TCU’s Athletes of the Week after impressive performances this past weekend.

Orr, a senior safety from DeSoto, Texas, was a key component in the success of the Frogs defensive game in Stillwater, Okla. on Saturday. His most notable accomplishment came at a crucial time, as TCU was leading 37-24 in the fourth quarter while OSU had the ball. Oklahoma State receiver Jalen McClesky through an ill-advised pass that Orr intercepted on the TCU 5, which clenched the Horned Frog’s big win.

TCU (No.9) has a bye week before hosting West Virginia on Oct. 7. The game has been scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

Smith is a sophomore transfer from Tulsa, Okla., and her hard work paid off when she made game winning goal in second overtime against Kansas in the Big 12 opener on Friday night. The game was scoreless until a pass deflected off a Kansas defender and which Smith redirected to the upper corner of the goal and gave TCU the 1-0 win.

TCU (8-3) plans to continue their successful season when they host Oklahoma State this Friday night at 7 p.m.
