FORT WORTH, Texas – The TCU Horned Frogs will wrap up their home slate this weekend when they host Texas Tech and Texas. Friday night’s contest against the Red Raiders is set for 7 p.m.

The Horned Frogs earned their first-ever point in Big 12 Conference play with a 3-3 tie at Oklahoma State on Friday night. Monica Alvarado posted her second multi-goal match of the season Friday night, scoring twice against the Cowgirls. The two goals gives her a career-high five on the season, which is tops on the TCU squad.

Maddy Courvoisier also scored against the Cowgirls, marking her first goal of the season. Vittoria Arnold made a total of 14 saves over the weekend, including nine against Oklahoma State. The nine saves matched her season high. Brittany Slyman tallied the Frogs’ lone goal of the match at Oklahoma on Sunday. Alicen Wright made her second appearance in goal this season at Oklahoma.

Texas Tech leads the league with 12 wins on the season and sits in a tie for third place in the lead with a 3-2-0 record. The Red Raiders have won six of their last seven games, including handing Texas its only league loss last Friday. Their only two league losses have come to the top two teams in the league (West Virginia (3-2) and Baylor (3-2 2ot)).

Janine Beckie is the leading goal scorer with nine. Add in her four assists and she has 22 points on the year, which ranks in a tie for fifth in the league. Goalkeeper Victoria Esson has started 15 matches and ranks third in the league with 4.13 saves per match. She has taken part in six of the seven shutouts.

Monica Alvarado scored two of TCU’s three goals at Oklahoma State on Friday night. It was her second multi-goal match of the season as she scored twice against Rice earlier this season. It has been since 2010 that the Horned Frogs have boasted a player that has more than one multi-goal match in a single season.

In 2010, the Horned Frogs had two players accomplish the feat: Jordan Calhoun and Kim Castleberry. Calhoun scored twice against UNLV and Texas Southern, while Castleberry potted two goals in matches against Sam Houston State and UT San Antonio.

Freshman Bobbi Clemmer has started all 15 games this season and is the only Horned Frog to have played all 1,392 minutes this season. Monica Alvarado has missed just six minutes of action, playing in 1,386 minutes this season.

TCU is averaging 1,185 fans per match this season, a mark that leads the Big 12. It is the only program to average over 1,000 fans per match. This season will mark the seventh straight year that TCU soccer has average over 1,000 fans per match.

Among all conference foes, TCU and Texas Tech have squared off the most times. Friday’s match-up will be the 20th in the series. TCU owns a 11-6-2 record in the all-time series. TCU and Texas Tech have played every season since 2003. The Frogs have won five of the nine meetings, but it’s Texas Tech that has won the last three.

The Red Raiders escaped with a 2-1 win in Fort Worth last year. Texas Tech took a 2-0 lead and held on. Victoria Esson made seven saves in the win for Texas Tech.
