Five Horned Frogs Earn All-Big 12 honors

FORT WORTH – TCU sophomore goalkeeper Katie Lund and senior defender Ryan Williams headline the Horned Frogs’ all-Big 12 Conference selections. The pair were named first-team all-conference performers.

In addition to Lund and Williams, Yazmeen Ryan earned a spot on the second team. Additionally, Ryan was selected to the Big 12 All-Freshman team along with goalkeeper Emily Alvarado and defender Tijana Djuricek.

TCU garnered a pair of first-team all-conference selections for the third time in program history. Lund and Williams join the duos of Allison Calleri and Jill Cook (1998, WAC) and Brenda DeRose and Sherry Dick (2000, WAC).

Lund led the Big 12 with a 0.45 goals against average during the regular season. In addition, her .848 save percentage ranked third. She registered seven shutouts while combining on another to give the Frogs eight on the year. In Big 12 play, Lund produced a 0.46 GAA, good for second among league goaltenders, and an .833 save percentage.

Williams paced the Horned Frogs with six assists on the year, while helping TCU post a 0.69 goals against average in the regular season. The Frogs have tied a school record with eight shutouts this season. She ranks third among TCU defenders in minutes played this season with 1,664.

Ryan ranks second on the team with five assists this season. She has also contributed four goals for 13 points, a mark that is also second on the squad. In league play, Ryan was the team’s leader in points (6), goals (2) and assists (2). Both of her league goals were game-winners.

Alvarado appeared in six games for the Horned Frogs this season. In just under 300 minutes in goal, she tallied 11 saves. She made two appearances in league action and assisted on one of TCU’s eight shutouts.

Djuricek has been a staple on the backline, starting all 18 games. She has helped TCU to post a 0.69 goals against average this season. The Frogs have matched a school-record with eight shutouts. On the year, she has one goal (the game-winner against Baylor in overtime) and two assists.

TCU opens play in the Big 12 Championships Wednesday night against sixth-seeded Kansas. Game time is set for 8 p.m. at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City.
