KANSAS CITY - The TCU women's soccer team will open play in the 2013 Big 12 Soccer Championships Wednesday night at 8 p.m. against the two-seed, Texas Tech. The tournament is being held at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City.

TCU guaranteed its spot in the Big 12 Championship Tournament set to begin this week in Kansas City with a 1-0 win over Iowa State. TCU finished seventh in the league standings, one spot higher than a year ago when the Frogs were the tournament's eighth seed.

Bobbi Clemmer became the 10th Horned Frog all-time to earn first-team all-conference recognition. Michelle Prokof was named second-team all-conference in addition to earning a spot on the Big 12 All-Newcomer squad. Prokof has netted eight goals in her debut campaign, a mark that ranks fifth in the Big 12.

Lauren Sajewich continues to be a staple on the field. She is the only Horned Frog to have played every minute of every match this season. Along with Sajewich, Meghan Murphy and Kelly Johnson are the only Frogs to have played in all 18 matches. Makenzie Koch has had a hand in 11 (4 goals, 7 assists) of TCU's 18 goals scored this season.

Despite dropping a hard-fought 1-0 loss to Baylor on Friday, Shannon Coffer has performed well in goal for the Horned Frogs. She is 3-1-1 this season with a 0.87 GAA and an .872 save percentage.

The Red Raiders come into Wednesday's match riding a 15-match unbeaten streak (13-0-2). Texas Tech is the only squad to have handed the Big 12 Champion West Virginia Mountaineers a loss this season. Texas Tech defeated West Virginia 2-0 on Oct. 27. First-team all-conference honoree Victoria Esson has been a rock in goal with 13 shutouts. She has not allowed a goal in her last four matches played. Texas Tech had three first-team all-conference honorees and two second-team selections.

TCU has qualified for the Big 12 Tournament for the second straight season. TCU is advancing to its 12th conference tournament in program history. The Horned Frogs are 2-9-3 all-time in conference tournaments.

The Horned Frogs took the tournament by storm in 2012, becoming the first eighth-seed to advance to the championship game.

TCU's record in the Big 12 Tournament stands at 1-1-1. The Frogs defeated No. 1 West Virginia 2-0, advanced past No. 4 Texas in penalty kicks and dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 2 Baylor.

TCU and Texas Tech will be meeting in a conference tournament for the second time in program history. The two teams played to a 0-0 draw in the 1995 SWC Championships held in Dallas.
