FORT WORTH - Geoff Hooker and Monica Alvarado have been selected as TCU's Scholar Athletes of the Month for October.

Hooker, a sophomore from Sherman, Texas, has been a key contributor on special teams with four solo tackles, tied for second on the team giving him six solo tackles for the year. The mechanical engineering major has also seen time as a reserve safety throughout his career, along with earning Academic All-Mountain West Team last season.

Alvarado, a senior from Southlake, Texas, was an integral component of the TCU soccer's offense with four goals on 14 shots during the month of October. Alvarado has also been named to the first-team Academic All Big 12 for her efforts on and off the field as she pursues her degree in accounting from the nationally ranked Neely School of Business.

TCU football will return to action Saturday, hosting No. 2 Kansas State at 6:00 p.m. on FOX. TCU soccer's season finished up this last week in San Antonio as they claimed runner-up in the Big 12 Soccer Championship.
