TALLAHASSEE, Florida -- The TCU beach volleyball team picked up a pair of signature wins Friday on the first day of the Staybridge Suites Invitational hosted by Florida State University by notching 3-2 victories over No. 10 Georgia State and No. 13 Florida International.

The Horned Frogs (15-8) were going for the trifecta in wins over ranked teams, but fell to No. 4 Florida State 5-0 in the final match of the day.

"It's been a great weekend so far. The whole team is playing good," TCU beach coach Hector Gutierrez said. "We came here to get some of those wins and we did it."

On the docket Saturday on the final day of competition, TCU battles No. 14 Florida Atlantic at 11:30 a.m. Due to a scheduling issue, the previously scheduled match with No. 11 South Carolina will not be played, Gutierrez said.

"We expect to go in and compete (Against FAU). They are a great team, and they are ranked. It's been a long day today, and hopefully we can recover and be ready tomorrow," Gutierrez said.

On the season, the Horned Frogs have four victories over ranked teams. Before Friday's wins over GSU and FIU, TCU beat No. 15 Arizona State and then-No. 15 Cal Poly in California in March.

Amy Neal and Jaelyn Greene increased their winning streak to nine straight with three-set wins over GSU's Delaney Rohan/Chelsea Ross (21-18, 11-21, 15-10) and FIU's Dorina Klinger/Katie Friesen (21-12, 20-22, 15-6) before falling to Florida State's Leigh Andrew/Brooke Kuhlman 12-21, 22-20, 6-15 in the nightcap.

Ariah Palter got the Horned Frogs on the board first against GSU with a 22-20, 24-22 win over Ashley McGinn/Allie Elson. After Neal and Greene posted their win, Jillian Bergeson and Shane Peters closed out the match with a 15-21, 21-18, 15-10 win over Brooke Weiner/Amie Held.

Palter and Tyler Lucas defeated FIU's Anabela Sataric/Estefanie Bethancour 18-21, 21-8, 15-13 to tie the match at 1-1. Neal and Greene defeated FIU's Dorina Klinger/Katie Friesen 21-12, 20-22, 15-6 to tie the match at 2-2 before Bergeson and Peters clinched the match for TCU by beating Brooke Weiner/Amie Held (GSU) 15-21, 21-18, 15-10.
