Beach Closes Out Regular Season Saturday
April 20, 2017
FORT WORTH, Texas — For the first time in school history, the TCU beach volleyball team will compete as a ranked team when the No. 14 Horned Frogs battle Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the final matches of the regular season Saturday in Corpus Christi.
The Horned Frogs (16-8) debuted in the AVCA Coaches Poll at No. 13 April 10 after beating No. 9 Georgia State, No. 10 Florida International and No. 15 Florida Atlantic at the Staybridge Suites Invitational April 7-8 hosted by Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida.
The Horned Frogs will open the final weekend at 10 a.m. with the Javelinas (9-16) before facing the host Islanders (1-14) at 12:30 p.m.
TCU, the Bayou Beach Bash champion, has won eight of its last nine matches with its only blemish in the run coming to No. 4 Florida State, which ended a season-high seven-match winning streak.
The Horned Frogs are 3-0 all-time against the Islanders with their last win coming 5-0 at the Bayou Beach Bash on March 31 in Monroe, Louisiana.
The matchup with the Javelinas will be the first in school history.
A recap of all the weekend matches will be available on GoFrogs.com, following the completion of the competitions each day. The matches can also be followed on Twitter @TCUBeachVB.
