May 4, 2017
FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU beach volleyball players Amy Neal and Jaelyn Greene have been selected to play in the 2017 USA Volleyball Collegiate Beach Championships later this month.
"It's pretty awesome for them to be selected by USA Volleyball to play and represent TCU alongside some of the other top schools in the country," TCU beach volleyball coach Hector Gutierrez said. "It's exciting for them and for the program."
The event will be hosted in Hermosa Beach, California, May 11-13. The women's final on the final day will air on NBCSN 6-7:30 p.m. ET.
"I am so excited that I get to play in one last tournament for this year with Amy representing TCU," said Greene, a sophomore from Mission Viejo, California. "TCU was my dream school so to be able to come here and not only get to play beach volleyball but now see where this program is going is such a blessing, and I am so thankful to be apart of it."
Greene and Neal led the No. 13 Horned Frogs (18-8) with a 21-5 record, and they finished the season winning 12 of their last 13 matches.
"I'm so excited to play in a college tournament one more time and get to play with Jaelyn," said Neal, a graduate student from Austin. "The future is bright for TCU beach volleyball and I know Coach Gutierrez will do great things with this program. After getting our first ever national ranking for TCU, this is the icing on the cake to end a unforgettable season."
A total of 24 pairs from various universities around the country including USC, Florida State, Pepperdine and UCLA, will participate in the event.
The duo went 2-2 during the season in head-to-head competition against other pairs invited to participate in the championships.
