In 2014, Stapp saw Memphis achieve a 14-9 record and a final ranking of No. 41 in the country. Memphis reached as high as No. 27 in the ITA poll and never dropped below No. 45 during the 2014 season. A total of three Lady Tigers appeared in the ITA rankings during the season, while freshmen Marta Morga and Anki Wind earned postseason honors in 2014 after capturing American Athletic Conference All-Conference accolades after leading the team in singles wins during dual play and on the season.
Stapp previously served as a volunteer assistant coach for the women's tennis team during the 2010-11 season, helping the Lady Tigers to a 16-10 record. In 2011, Memphis captured its first C-USA First Team Singles selection in program history with sophomore Courtney Collins earning the honor and its first C-USA Newcomer of the Year honoree with junior transfer Mariya Slupska.
Stapp also served as a volunteer assistant for the men's program for 2011-12 season, helping guide the Tigers to their first NCAA Tournament appearance and a runner-up finish in the C-USA Championships.
A native of Sydney, Australia, Stapp was a three-time all-Conference USA singles selection while playing for the nationally-ranked Memphis Tigers from 2000-03. Stapp teamed with Walker in doubles in 2002 and 2003, where the duo reached as high as No. 12 in the country in Jan. 2003. Stapp finished his career No. 1 with 78 career doubles wins at Memphis and No. 2 with 60 career singles victories.
After his time at Memphis, Stapp began playing on the USTA Futures and Challengers circuit where he reached as high as the 700s in the ATP doubles rankings. In singles, Stapp defeated several top-300 players and some ranked in the top 100.
