ATHENS, Ga. - The 59th-ranked TCU women's tennis team dropped a difficult 6-1 match to the No. 2-ranked Georgia Bulldogs in Athens on Saturday. Senior Saber Pierce had an outstanding afternoon, though, as she won both of her matches against ranked opponents, including a victory with freshman Ana Cetnik over the No. 4 doubles team in the country. While the Frogs fall to 2-5 overall, all five of their losses have come to teams ranked 27th or higher in the ITA's collegiate rankings, including three versus schools in the top six.

Pierce and Cetnik claimed their biggest victory of the season with an 8-6 win over Georgia's Agata Cioroch and Shadisha Robinson, the nation's No. 4 doubles team. The TCU duo had the Bulldog pair down 6-1, and were able to withstand a rally to claim the victory. Georgia claimed the doubles point, however, with a pair of 8-2 wins at Nos. 2 and 3.

In singles action, Pierce won the lone point for the Frogs as she topped Natalie Frazier at No. 4 in straight sets (6-2, 6-4). The win marked Pierce's second over a ranked opponent this year as Frazier entered the match ranked No. 68 in the country. Pierce upset 38th-ranked Kendra Strohm of Texas during the Omni Hotels Southwest Regional in the fall. Sophomore Gloriann Lopez was able to push her match against Douglas Wink at No. 6 into a full three sets before falling 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. The Bulldogs were able to win the other four matches in straight sets.

Complete results of the match can be found below.

TCU starts a 10-match homestand on February 27 versus Oklahoma beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Friedman Tennis Center. The Frogs will also host Tulsa on February 28 at noon at Colonial Country Club, and Purdue on February 29 at 10:30 a.m. at the Friedman Tennis Center.
