Fort Worth, Texas - The No. 21 TCU women's tennis team topped No. 62 Iowa, 5-2, on Friday afternoon at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. With the win, the Frogs beat their fourth straight Big Ten Conference opponent to improve to 11-1 overall this season.

"I was really pleased with the way that we came out and played today," said Head Coach Dave Borelli. "It's nice to play outside after playing indoors the last couple of weeks on the road. Iowa is a competitive team and they really fought in this match."

Iowa notched the first victory on the day in doubles at the two when Anastasia Zhukova and Hilary Tyler topped Helena Besovic and Andrea Morgado, 8-4. It was the first time that the two TCU players were competing together this season. No. 52 Ana Cetnik and Story Tweedie-Yates evened the score at the top spot with a 8-5 win over Meg Racette and Hillary Mintz. The pair is now 10-1 this season all of which have come at one spot in the line-up.

In the deciding match, Paige Brown and Karla Mancinas topped Milica Veselinovic and Jacqueline Lee, 8-4. The senior duo is now 2-0 as their last victory together came against Tulsa on Feb. 27.

In singles, No. 17 Tweedie-Yates cruised to her fifth straight victory as she defeated Racette, 6-1, 6-1. After Iowa evened the team score at 1-1 with Lee's 6-1, 6-2 victory over Mancinas at six, the Frogs went on to win the next four matches to clinch the win.

Morgado snapped a three-match losing streak with her 6-2, 6-4 victory over Tyler at five. No. 52 Besovic then secured the victory for TCU when she topped No. 91 Mintz, 6-4, 6-3. The junior has now won seven-straight matches on the year. The final win of the day came at the three spot when Kewa Nichols improved to 14-9 overall with her 6-3, 6-4 victory over Zhukova.

The Hawkeyes (7-5) picked up their second point on the afternoon at the four spot when Veselinovic topped Gloriann Lopez, 6-4, 6-3. With the loss, Lopez falls to 8-4 this spring playing in the Nos. 3-5 spots.

On Saturday, the Frogs will return to the courts to face Middle Tennessee State beginning at 12 p.m.
