TCU Completes Home Schedule With Sunday Win

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU women's tennis team picked up the third Mountain West Conference win of the weekend Sunday, sweeping the Colorado State Rams by the score of 7-0 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
The Horned Frogs swept through the doubles action, taking down the Rams on all three courts. Junior Idunn Hertzberg and sophomore Gaby Mastromarino claimed the first win from the No. 3 position, while senior Nina Munch-Soegaard and junior Maria Babanova sealed the early 1-0 advantage with an 8-5 victory from the middle court.
Babanova got TCU rolling from the No. 5 court in singles, earning a 6-2, 6-1 win over CSU's Lauren Mulhern. Hertzberg followed quickly with a 6-4, 6-0 decision over Veronika Wojakowska from the No. 4 slot, while No. 63 Munch-Soegaard clinched with win for the Frogs with a 6-3, 6-0 win against Laura Neal from the top court.
"It was a great all around effort by the Frogs today," TCU head coach Jefferson Hammond said. "It was tough to watch Nina play in her final match at home. She has had a great run at No. 1 for four years and she finished strong today. I'm really proud of her."
Junior Katariina Tuohimaa picked up another conference win, toppling Caitlin Fluegge on No. 3 at 6-3, 6-0. No. 90 Kayla Duncan made quick work of Tori Arnesson in straight sets from the second flight, 6-0, 6-2, and Mastromarino tacked on the final tally with with a 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (6) versus Melissa Holzinger.
TCU will hit the road to take on UC Irvine on April 7 before heading into Mountain West Conference territory to take on San Diego State and UNLV in Las Vegas, Nev., April 9-10.
