TCU Shot Down by Red Raiders

FORT WORTH, Texas – The nationally ranked TCU women’s tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 32 Texas Tech on Saturday in Lubbock, Texas at the McLeod Tennis Center.
Juniors Stefanie Tan and Simona Parajova picked up the only singles victories for the No. 56 Horned Frogs (10-11, 3-4 Big 12) today, as the Red Raiders (14-7, 4-3 Big 12) won the doubles point and four singles matches.
The Red Raiders increased their lead to 2-0 with a win on court six, before No. 121 Parajova dominated on court two by downing Rashmi Teltumbde 6-3, 6-0 to give TCU its first point of the match. Parajova continues to lead the team with 15 wins in dual matches, with all the wins coming at No. 2 singles. No. 118 Lynn Kiro brought Texas Tech one step closer to closing out the match with a win on court three, as Kadzhaya fell 6-0, 6-3.
The match was clinched on court five, as Samantha Adams beat Monika Sirilova 6-3, 6-4. Nikki Sanders put another point on the board for the Red Raiders with a win on court four. Sanders won the first set, before Seda Arantekin rebounded for a 7-5 win in the second set. Sanders did not back down and pulled out a 10-2 win in the super tiebreaker for the win.
The final point for TCU came at the No. 1 singles position, as No. 59 Tan defeated Kenna Kilgo. Kilgo claimed the first set 6-4, but Tan came back to win the second 6-3 to send the match to the final set. Tan was victorious in the super tiebreaker with a 10-4 decisive victory to earn her 14th victory in dual matches this season.
TCU will return home for its final two home matches of the 2013-14 season, as the Frogs host Kansas State on April 11 at 2 p.m., and Kansas on April 13 at 10 a.m. TCU will then take two weeks off before hosting the Big 12 Championships on April 24-27 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
