TCU Posts Strong Start to Fall Season

MIDLAND, Texas – TCU’s women’s tennis team had a solid open to its fall season over the weekend, notching multiple wins at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational.

Sophomore Simona Parajova had the strongest showing for the Horned Frogs, advancing to the championship semifinals. In the round of 32, Parajova was a 7-6, 1-6, 7-5 winner over Nebraska’s Maggy Lehmicke.

Parajova added a straight-set triumph in the round of 16, a 6-3, 6-1 decision over Baylor’s Megan Horter. The win in the round of 16 set up a quarterfinal matchup with her teammate, senior Olivia Smith.

Smith had two wins at the event, including a 6-1, 6-2 downing of Nebraska’s Patricia Veresova. The Bath, England, native also dropped Kim Anicete of Rice, 6-0, 6-2. In the quarterfinal matchup of Frogs, Parajova claimed a 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 triumph.

Millie Nichols netted two wins at the event as well, grabbing a 6-7, 7-6, 6-4 grinder over Rice’s Katie Gater and a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Kelli Hine of Texas Tech.

 Monika Sirilova was a 5-7, 6-0, 7-6 winner over Stefanie Weinstein of Nebraska in her TCU debut, while Stefanie Tan also had a 6-1, 6-0 win over Stephen F. Austin’s Kateryna Bugayenko.
