Morgado Wins Back Draw Of Blue Singles In Houston

Houston, Texas - Andrea Morgado, a freshman on the TCU women's tennis team, won three straight matches to win the back draw of the Hilton Houston Rice Tennis Classic this weekend in Houston.
After falling in her opening match on Friday, Morgado strung together three straight victories to close out the tournament to improve her fall record to 6-1. On Saturday, she defeated Daniela Covella of Baylor 3-6, 7-5 (15-13) in a marathon match. The freshman recorded her third victory of the weekend on Sunday when she beat Tracie Chong of Rice 6-1, 7-5 to win the consolation back draw.
Morgado and senior Paige Brown also teamed up in the Blue Doubles Draw. The pair won their final match in the winner's bracket on Sunday when they defeated Nadia Rossikhina and Ana Paula Soto of UT-San Antonio 8-1.
The Frogs will return to action next weekend at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
