WACO, Texas – TCU’s women’s tennis team continued its run at the USTA/ITA Texas Regional Championships with two singles win and two doubles wins on the courts of Baylor’s Hurd Tennis Center.
Sophomores Stefanie Tan and Simona Parajova both advanced to Sunday’s Round of 16 with straight-set wins today. Parajova dropped Megan Horter of host Baylor, 6-4, 6-1 for her second straight-set win of the event.
Tan made it through with a 7-6 (4), 6-4 triumph at the expense of North Texas’ Barbora Vykydalova. Both Frog players will continue play tomorrow morning as 16 of the remaining players in the draw.
In doubles action, ITA Texas Regional defending champions Millie Nichols and Olivia Smith won 8-5 over Mariana Perez and Gabriela Rojas of Texas State. Kelsey Sundaram and Tan added an 8-3 win over UTEP’s Dariya Abdrakhmanova and Martina Trierweiler.
Nichols and Smith are set to face Nikki Sanders and Rashmi Teltumbde of Texas Tech on Sunday morning in the Round of 16, while Sundaram and Tan were forced to withdraw due to an injury.
