FORT WORTH – TCU’s women’s tennis team plays its second of seven-straight home matches to open the season Sunday when Sam Houston State visits the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

First serve for Sunday’s match is set for 10 a.m. on the Bartzen Varsity Courts. No. 37-ranked TCU is 1-0 on the year after a 6-1 win over Nicholls State on Jan. 20. SHSU is 0-1 and faces SMU on Saturday before coming to Fort Worth.

Sunday’s meeting will be just the third all-time between the Horned Frogs and Bearkats with the last one coming in 2000. Both of the previous meetings were in Fort Worth and resulted in 9-0 TCU wins prior to the doubles point rule change.

Five Frogs won in singles in the season opener, including sophomore Stefanie Tan at the No. 1 singles spot. She picked up a win over the lone ranked player on Nicholls State’s roster a week ago. Federica Denti, Millie Nichols, Simona Parajova and Olivia Smith were also winners.

In doubles, TCU’s top tandem of Nichols and Smith look to bounce back after a dropping their match last week, but the duos of Denti and Kelsey Sundaram, along with Gabi Barbosa and Parajova are both 1-0.

The match is the second of seven-straight at home to open the season. TCU does not leave the state of Texas until March 15.
