FORT WORTH – TCU’s women’s tennis team closes its seven-match homestand Friday when it plays host to Arizona at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
First serve for Friday’s match is set for 1 p.m., and will likely be at the indoor facility of the Friedman Tennis Center. No. 28-ranked TCU is 5-1 on the year and has won two-straight matches. The No. 30 Wildcats are 6-3 and have also won two in a row.
The Horned Frogs are closing a seven-match homestand to open the year. After Friday, TCU will play eight of its next nine matches on the road. The current homestand features wins over No. 17 Vanderbilt and No. 46 Pepperdine, with the only loss coming to No. 9 Alabama.
Friday’s matchup will be the sixth all-time between TCU and Arizona. The Wildcats have claimed each of the previous five meetings, though the two programs have not met since 2003. That was a 6-0 Arizona win in Fort Worth.
Two Horned Frogs are ranked among the nation’s top-115 in No. 50 Stefanie Tan and No. 115 Simona Parajova. Tan is 4-1 on the year, while Parajova has a 5-1 mark. Senior Olivia Smith is 5-0 and has back-to-back wins over ranked opponents.
In doubles, TCU has dropped just three matches all year and is led by Millie Nichols and Olivia Smith, who are 5-1 at No. 1 doubles. The duo last weekend knocked off two squads ranked among the nation’s top-28 doubles teams.
For Arizona, Lacey Smyth is ranked as the No. 108 singles player in the country, while the Wildcats do not have any ranked doubles duos.
