TCU Dominates Harvard, 6-1
FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU won the doubles point and five singles matches to defeat 66th-ranked Harvard, 6-1, at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center, Saturday.
The 30th-ranked Horned Frogs improve their record to 5-3, while the Crimson fall 3-5.
In doubles action, TCU won positions 2 and 3. TCU's Katrin Gaber and Karolina Roubickova fell at the no. 1 spot, 9-7, after leading 5-2. Saber Pierce and Rosa Perez defeated Sarah McGinty, 8-4 at no. 2, and Paty Aburto and Leoni Weirich beat Fleur Broughton and Jennie Timoney, 8-3 at no. 3.
After playing the first set to 7-6, junior Katrin Gaber lost her second set at the no. 1 position, 6-1, to Sanja Bajin. Despite the loss at no. 1, TCU won at all five other positions. Freshman Paty Aburto improved her spring record to 5-2 with her win over Fleur Broughton at the no. 2 position, 6-3, 6-1.
Freshman Saber Pierce increased her winning streak to five matches and freshman Karolina Roubickova improved her streak to six matches.
TCU continues its homestand on Monday, March 12, when the Frogs host Wyoming at 2 p.m. TCU also hosts 39th-ranked Mississippi State on Tuesday, March 13, at 2 p.m.
