Horned Frogs Prep for Double Header

FORT WORTH, Texas – The No. 70 TCU women’s tennis team is set to welcome Louisiana Tech and No. 68 North Florida for a double header on Tuesday, Mar. 11 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

The Horned Frogs (5-7) will first take on the Lady Techsters (10-1) at 10 a.m., before taking on the Ospreys (5-1) at 3 p.m., on the Bernard J. ‘Tut’ Bartzen Varsity Courts. Free pizza will be served to fans in between the singles and doubles matches of both competitions.

TCU Noteables
TCU is hoping to bounce back from a midweek loss to regional rival North Texas. The Frogs, who are playing short-handed, fought the Mean Green all the way to the final singles court, but ultimately lost 4-3.

No. 53 Stefanie Tan continues to pace TCU at No. 1 singles with a 7-1 record in dual matches, while also posting a 9-4 record against ranked opponents since the fall. Tan and doubles partner Seda Arantekin lead the team with a 3-1 record in doubles matches.

Simona Parajova continues to be unbeaten at No. 2 singles with an 8-0 record. The Slovakia native has won all of her matches except for one in straight sets. The last time Parajova had to go to a third set was on Jan. 24 against Franz Goettsching of UC Irvine, where she pulled out a 6-1, 3-6, 10-3 victory.

Scouting the Opponents
Louisiana Tech dropped its first match of the season to Florida Gulf Coast 5-2, before winning the last 10-straight matches. Jazmin Britos leads the team with a 10-0 singles record, while Manoela Chiacchio and Joanna Nalborska have 9-2 and 8-2 records in singles action, respectively. Marta Sramkova and Melanie Urvoy are 7-3 in the last 10 matches, as the Lady Techsters hope to continue their program-best winning streak.

North Florida is coming off a 4-3 victory over UNC Wilmington and are appearing in the latest ITA poll for the first time this season at No. 68. Taylor Hollander and Michelle Valdez lead the team in singles with 5-1 records, while Simona Weymar is 4-2 all at No. 1 singles. Weymer and Esther Zuniga have only one loss on the season on court two of doubles, while Hollander and Marina Cunningham lead the team with a 4-1 record.
