FORT WORTH - The TCU women's tennis team returns to action on its spring break road trip Wednesday when it faces Florida State for a 2 p.m., matchup at FSU's Scott Speicher Tennis Center.
No. 39 TCU is 7-4 this season and dropped the first match of its road swing, a 5-2 decision at No. 15 Alabama. The 40th-ranked Seminoles are 6-6 on the spring and have dropped back-to-back matches in ACC action.
Wednesday's meeting is the seventh all-time between the Horned Frogs and FSU. TCU is 5-1 against the Seminoles, including five-straight wins in the series. In the last meeting in 2009, the Frogs were 4-2 winners.
As of late, freshman Stefanie Tan has been red hot for the Frogs in singles play, capturing wins in each of her last four matches. In last Sunday's match with Alabama, Tan took down the nation's No. 28-ranked player, 6-2, 6-7 (4), 1-0 (5). Federica Denti, with a 7-2 mark, holds the best winning percentage in singles for TCU.
In doubles play, TCU has settled into its top three duos with Millie Nichols and Olivia Smith making up the nation's No. 59-ranked tandem. Denti and Kelsey Sundram play at No. 2 and are 6-4 this spring, while Gaby Mastromarino and Simona Parajova are 5-1 at the third spot.
With Wednesday's match, TCU closes the main portion of its nonconference schedule. While two out of league matches still remain on the slate, the Frogs open their final season of Mountain West play Saturday against Air Force.
