FORT WORTH - The TCU women's tennis team plays its final nonconference match of 2013 on Wednesday when it travels to Dallas for a matchup with SMU.
First serve is set for 2 p.m. at Northwood Club in Dallas. The No. 35 Horned Frogs are 13-2 on the year, including a 10-2 mark in nonconference matches. SMU, ranked 51st, is 11-7 this spring. The Frogs are 5-1 against foes from the state of Texas.
TCU and the Mustangs are meeting for the 48th time; marking the most times TCU has faced any opponent in its history. The Frogs hold a 27-20 edge in the all-time series, including a 7-0 win last year in Fort Worth. Since 1975, the two teams have played at least once every year except 1999.
Wednesday's match will close a six-match road trip for the Frogs, who are 4-1 on the trip. It is also the last of four-straight matches against former Southwest Conference members. TCU dropped Houston and Baylor, but fell to Rice.
Each of TCU's regulars in the singles lineup has a winning record this spring, led by No. 75 Olivia Smith at 10-2. Sophomores Stefanie Tan (10-4) is ranked 71st and Simona Parajova (11-4) has been ranked this season. Monika Sirilova has come on as of late, winning her last six matches.
In doubles, Millie Nichols and Smith make up the nation's No. 47-ranked doubles tandem. The Frog duo is 8-3 this spring. Federica Denti and Kelsey Sundaram are 6-3, while Gabi Barbosa and Parajova are 5-3. TCU is 25-12 in all doubles matches this season.
Two Mustangs appear in the ITA singles rankings with Aleskandra Malyarchikova leading the way at No. 77. Edyta Cieplucha is also ranked, checking in at No. 119.
