FORT WORTH - TCU's women's tennis team plays its first home matches since March 6 on Friday and Sunday when Kansas State and Kansas, respectively, visit the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
First serve against KSU is set for 2 p.m. on Friday, while Sunday's match against Kansas will begin at 10 a.m. TCU, ranked 35th, is 14-2 and 3-0 in Big 12 play. The No. 48 Wildcats are 7-6, 1-2. The Jayhawks are 8-5, 0-3 in the league and face Baylor on Sunday.
TCU has won all three of the meetings all-time with the Wildcats, each of them in Fort Worth. The two schools last met in 2007, a 6-1 TCU win. The Horned Frogs are 2-0 all-time versus Kansas, but have not played the Jayhawks since 1989.
The Frogs currently sit third in the Big 12 standings, behind Texas Tech and Texas, which are both 4-0. Dating back to March 24 of last season, TCU has won 24 of its last 27 matches and has won 10-straight conference matches.
No. 71-ranked Stefanie Tan is TCU's highest-ranked singles player and has an 11-4 record this spring. Olivia Smith is ranked 75th and has amassed a 10-3 mark. Simona Parajova, who has also been ranked is 12-4.
In doubles, Federica Denti and Kelsey Sundaram are 7-3 for the Frogs, while Gabi Barbosa and Simona Parajova have a 5-3 record. In all doubles matches this spring, TCU is 26-14, while it is 60-28 in singles matches.
Kansas State boasts the nation's No. 11 singles player in Petra Niedermayerova, as well as the No. 37-ranked doubles duo of Niedermayerova and Karla Bonacic. Niedermayerova and Ivana Kubickova are ranked 45th.
