FORT WORTH – TCU placed four student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Women’s Tennis Team, the conference announced this week.
The Horned Frogs had three first-team honorees in senior Federica Denti (Accounting, Bellano, Italy), junior Monika Sirilova (Master of Liberal Arts, Spisska Nova Ves, Slovakia) and sophomore Stefanie Tan (International Finance, Bishan, Singapore). Junior Millie Nichols (Health & Fitness, Amarillo, Texas) earned second-team accolades.
Denti, Nichols and Tan all earned Academic All-Mountain West honors last season.
To be eligible for the Academic All-Big 12 team, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher (either cumulative or over the two pervious semesters) and must have participated in 60 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. First team members have to maintain a 3.20 GPA or higher, and second team members have to keep GPAs between 3.00 and 3.19. Seniors who have been members of the squad for at least two seasons and meet all academic criteria, but do not meet the participation requirement are also eligible.
The TCU women’s tennis team will take part in the Big 12 Championships in Norman, Okla. beginning on Friday. The Horned Frogs earned the No. 4 seed and will face the No. 5 seed Oklahoma State in the quarterfinals round at noon.
