FORT WORTH – TCU coach Dave Borelli announced the signing of Monika Sirilova, who will come to TCU as a graduate student during the 2012-13 school year, to a financial aid contract.

A native of the republic of Slovakia, Sirilova will have two years of eligibility remaining to fulfill at TCU. Sirilova was recruited by several top-10 programs before deciding to join the Horned Frogs. She joins fellow countrywoman Simona Parajova, who will be a sophomore this season.

As a junior player in 2008, Sirilova was ranked No. 73 in the world. Overall, she has been ranked as high as No. 815 in the world for singles play and No. 947 in doubles. Sirilova has advanced to four semifinals in ITF circuit events.

“With our first season in the Big 12 coming up, getting Monika will make a difference to a team that I thought was going to be very good already,” TCU coach Dave Borelli said. “We’ve got seven of our top eight players back, including our top five, and Monika will be a difference maker.”

For singles play, Sirilova made it to the semifinals of a $10,000 event in Lima, Peru in 2011, while at the age of 18. Her second semifinal came in August 2011 when she won three matches at an event in Ilawa, Poland.

Sirilova added quarterfinal appearances in singles play while competing at $10,000 events in Rousse, Bulgaria and Izmir, Turkey.

In doubles action, Sirilova and her playing partner went to back-to-back semifinals at events in Vinkovci, Croatia and Osijek, Croatia.
