Tan Into Doubles Finals at Pro Circuit Event

FORT WORTH, Texas – Rising TCU senior and All-American Stefanie Tan partnered with UNC sophomore Hayley Carter to earn a berth into the doubles finals at the 2014 Holt Fiat Women’s $10K Pro Circuit Event at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
The Singapore native and her partner earned the local wildcard into the main draw of the event and have posted three straight-set victories over top-ranked doubles teams to make it to the finals.
The duo began the tournament by defeating the No. 2 seeded pair of Elisabeth Fournier of Canada and Danielle Mills of the United States in the round of 16. In the quarterfinals, the pair easily handled USC players Giuliana Olmos of Mexico and Maidson Westby of the United States by a score of 6-1, 6-2.
Today’s semifinal saw the duo face another pair of collegiate players, as they made quick work of Samantha Harris of Australia and Lauren Stratman of the United States. The first set was a quick 6-1 victory for Tan and Carter and then the pair finished off the match with a 6-3 win in set two.
Tan and Carter will be the third match tomorrow on the Bernard J. ‘Tut’ Bartzen Varsity Courts. The pair will follow the two singles semifinals matches that will begin at 9 a.m.
