FORT WORTH – TCU’s women’s tennis team opens its fall season this weekend at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational in Midland.
The Horned Frogs open the year with four new faces in the lineup and three new combinations for doubles play. Millie Nichols, a sophomore transfer from Tennessee, will take to the court with returning junior Olivia Smith.
Junior Kelsey Sundaram, who spent two years at the University of Arkansas before coming to TCU, and newcomer Stefanie Tan will play together. Returning junior Federica Denti and newcomer Simona Parajova also open the fall as doubles partners.
All six players are also set for singles play at the event. Smith went 16-7 a year ago with all of her matches coming during the spring. Denti racked up a 15-8 record overall and a 2-3 record in the fall. In doubles during the fall, Denti advanced to the finals of the Baylor HEB Invitational.
While at Tennessee, Nichols went 27-13 overall in singles and was ranked in the ITA top-30 with two different doubles partners. She and Sundaram, who will not play together this weekend but won an ITA Circuit Event over the summer, open the fall ranked No. 51 in the ITA doubles rankings.
