Preview: Haunted Horned Frog Classic

FORT WORTH, Texas – The TCU women’s tennis teams will finish off 2017 home fall season this weekend as the team hosts the Haunted Horned Frog Classic from Oct. 27-29 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

The Horned Frogs will face off against players from Rice, Texas A&M, Baylor, Middle Tennessee State and Northwestern State over the three days on the Bernard J. ‘Tut’ Bartzen Varsity Courts. Action will begin at 11 a.m.., on Friday with doubles in the indoor courts and 11:30 a.m., on Saturday and 10:30 a.m., on Sunday outdoors with singles action. Admission is free all weekend to fans and a live video feed is free through PlaySight.com.

So far this fall, Aleksandra Zenovka is leading the pack with an 8-3 mark in singles action as she made a run to the semifinals of the ITA Texas Regional Championships presented by Oracle. Meredith Roberts has also had success in singles with the newcomer picking up six wins in the fall while also advancing to the quarterfinals of Regionals.

The Horned Frogs are coming off a 2016-17 season where they reached their 18th NCAA Tournament and appeared in the second round for the third straight year. The team, under the direction of fourth-year head coach Lee Taylor Walker, returns five letterwinners from a season ago, while also welcoming five newcomers.
