TCU Travels to Waco to Close Fall Season

FORT WORTH - TCU's women's tennis team travels the short trip to Waco, Texas, for the HEB Baylor Invitational.

It is the last event on the fall schedule for the Horned Frogs and is the second time the Frogs have traveled to Waco this season.

In singles competition, TCU begins play at 11 a.m. on Friday when junior Shalini Sahoo meets Cameron Ellis of Georgia. Sahoo's fall singles record stands at 1-1.

Senior Maria Babanova is set to take on UTA's Maria Martinez at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Babanova is 1-1 in singles play during the fall.  

TCU's other first-round match will begin at 12:15 p.m. on Friday when sophomore Federica Denti faces off with Briggitt Marcovich of Louisiana-Lafayette. Denti holds a 1-1 singles record this season.

Senior Katariina Tuohimma earned a first-round bye as the event's No. 3 seed and will begin her play at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. She will meet the winner of North Texas' Amy Joubert and Texas Tech's Sandy Dynka. The Helsinki, Finland, native is 0-3 this fall.

Junior Gaby Mastromarino makes her fall debut for the Frogs when she joins Sahoo in doubles action at 8 a.m. on Friday. The TCU duo squares off with Nikola Matovicova and Katarina Micochona of UTA in the Doubles Round of 32.

Babanova begins her doubles play with senior Idunn Hertzberg at 8 a.m. on Friday. They are set to face UTA's Linda Aquist and Giada Dortona. Babanova and Hertzberg are 2-2 as doubles partners during the fall.

Denti and Tuohimaa are the No. 2 seed in the doubles bracket and received a first-round bye. They will face either UNT's Nadia Lee and Madura Ranganathan or Julie Mazinova and Audrey Wooland of Louisiana-Lafayette. The TCU duo has a record of 2-1 this fall.
