Women's Tennis Signs Pereira
Nov. 14, 2013
FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU women’s tennis coach Dave Borelli has announced the signing of Alexis Pereira to a National Letter of Intent for the 2014-15 season.
“It is really exciting to be part of such an amazing group of girls,” Pereira. “I am honored to be joining the TCU women’s tennis team and I consider myself very lucky to have Dave Borelli and Jason Marshall as my coaches.
“David Roditi, the men’s tennis coach at TCU, was my USTA national coach for three years, so in some ways, going to TCU will be like coming home. TCU is a big sports school with a strong sense of community and I love the energy and enthusiasm. I can’t wait to hit those purple courts as a Horned Frog.”
Pereira comes to Fort Worth via Campbell Hall in Studio City, Calif., where she earned two CIF Division I tennis titles with her team, a CIF Division I singles title, as well as partnering with USC freshman Zoe Katz in 2012 to win the Southern Section doubles crown. She was named to the Alpha League All-Area First Team all four years of high school, as well as garnering Rookie of the Year accolades in 2010, Player of the Year honors in 2012 and Doubles Team of the Year in 2012.
On the national stage, Pereira was a member of the USTA Player Development program for six years, where she was a 12-time USTA National Open Doubles Champion, as well as the National Open Singles Champion in 2012. She was named the recipient of the USTA Pacific Zone Team Championships Sportsmanship Award, while also being selected to the SoCal Pacific Cup team and the Maze Cup team. Pereira won the doubles title at the Carson International Spring Championship, while also winning the Gold Ball in 2012 as the doubles champion at the Easter Bowl Level I Supernational and the Level I Winter Supernational.
