"We are very excited to have Linda Hampton on our staff," head coach Prentice Lewis commented upon her hiring. "She adds a great deal to our program. Her experience with the USA Olympic Development Program and with the USA High Performance Program adds to our excitement."
Hampton helps with volleyball operations as well as training in the gym and assisting with recruiting for the Horned Frogs.
Hampton joined the TCU volleyball program in 2005 with coaching experience from every level of competition, having coached at the high school, club, collegiate and national levels.
Since her arrival, the Frogs have flourished. They have four straight winning campaigns, including back-to-back-to-back 20-win seasons. TCU has posted 102 wins since her arrival. The Frogs have shown improvement in all statistical categories, including posting their highest hitting percentage (.244) since the 2005 campaign in 2007.
Hampton came to TCU after a one-year stint as an assistant coach at the University of North Texas. Her responsibilities with the Mean Green included marketing, match scouting and preparation as well as assisting with on-court development.
Prior to North Texas, Hampton spent two years as an assistant coach at Florida International University where she served as the recruiting coordinator.
A native of Gainesville, Fla., Hampton began her coaching career as a volunteer at the local Girl's Club. In 1999, she was named the head coach at her alma mater, P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School with the University of Florida. During her three years as head coach, P.K. Yonge posted three consecutive state final four appearances, including the 2000 Florida State Championship. Hampton was also named Gainesville Sun All-Area Coach of the Year in 1999 and 2000 and received the Dairy Farmer's Class 2A State Coach of the Year award in 2000.
Hampton's off-seasons keep her busy, as she has spent the past 10 summers working with the USA Olympic Volleyball Program, where she coaches with various development camps all over the country. This includes the USA High Performance Program, where she leads the nation's top youth in the 15-and-under age group. Her various camp experiences include the University of Texas, University of Florida, UCLA and TCU.
Most recently, Hampton traveled to two different USA camps in the summer of 2010. She worked as an associate head coach, overseeing the select age group, at the Girls' A3 camp in Colorado Springs, Colo. Hampton served in the same capacity at the USA camp in San Francisco, Calif.
Hampton is the older sister of former TCU setter Nirelle Hampton and former University of Florida outside hitter Marcie Hampton. She graduated in 2004 from Florida International.
