FORT WORTH, Texas - Three close sets came out in favor of the TCU volleyball team as the Horned Frogs grabbed its second straight sweep with a 3-0 (26-24, 26-24, 27-25) victory over Coastal Carolina to secure the Cowtown Classic title on Saturday night inside The Rickel at the University Recreation Center.

After falling behind 21-13 in the opening set, the Frogs (2-0) mounted a comeback as they slowly began to chip away at the Chanticleers' (1-1) lead. After battling back, Coastal Carolina had a set point but freshman Allye Beth Deaton scored three straight kills to put the Frogs on top to take the opener 26-24.

In the final two sets, the teams battled back-and-forth with TCU needing comebacks in both sets to finish off the match in a sweep. Deaton came through with two straight kills at the end in the second set, while junior Anna Walsh came up big blocking in the third set to seal the victory.

Deaton led the way with 13 kills in the match and only one error for a.462 hitting clip as she was named to her first all-tournament team. Quotes of the Match
TCU Director of Volleyball Jill Kramer
Opening Statement
"I am really proud of our team for gutting out three really close sets today. At some point late in the game, I think we were behind in every single set. It was great for them to fight. We talked to them yesterday about how we were too focused on the score to determine how hard we were going to play. I thought they did a better job of managing themselves with that today. They made big plays at the end of sets to close it out and we had some people go in the game in some situations that they hadn't been in really late in the sets just from running out of substitutions and everybody went in and had ice in their veins when they were at the service line and things like that. It was pretty cool to see. Just a great team effort all the way around."
