FORT WORTH - The TCU women's volleyball team tallied its ninth win in a row Tuesday evening, claiming a 3-0 (26-16, 25-22, 25-9) triumph over UT Arlington in front of 666 fans at the University Rec Center.

The Horned Frogs improved to 9-1 on the year and picked up their sixth sweep of the year. UTA dropped to 4-8.

TCU and UTA traded points to open the first set and the Frogs trailed 5-4 before back-to-back Megan Munce aces sparked a 6-1 TCU run that led to a Maverick timeout. The Frogs tacked on two more out of the timeout and UTA was never able to get closer than within three at 14-11.

Two Yvonne Igodan kills led to a 5-0 TCU spurt and put the set out of reach for the visitors. Five Frogs (Macy Capen, Munce, Stephanie Holland, Mattie Burleson and Igodan) had two kills each in the set as TCU took a 1-0 lead after a 25-16 set win.

The Frogs raced out to an 8-3 lead in set two and appeared on their way to a rout when UTA responded with a 7-3 run of its own to make it 13-11 and force a TCU timeout. The Mavs briefly took a 16-15 lead, but a heavy dose of Burleson allowed TCU to escape with a 25-22 win and 2-0 lead.

Burleson had three kills in the set, while Igodan added three of her own. Sloane Sunstrum also had three to go along with three digs, whereas Meghan Horio led the Frogs with five digs in the set.

Early in the third set, it appeared as it would too come down to the wire as the set was tied at eight after the teams traded four-straight points. Three UTA errors, along with a Frog block and Capen kill provided a quick 5-0 run and a 13-8 lead.

After a Mav timeout, TCU continued the onslaught, scoring the match's next six points to take a 19-8 lead and prompt UTA's final timeout. The Mavs scored a kill out of the break, but two Igodan kills, two Alexia Heist aces and two UTA attack errors polished off a 17-1 Frog run to finish the set 25-9 and the match at 3-0.

Overall, TCU held a distinct advantage in hitting (.310-.063) and kills (36-29), while adding 11 aces. Igodan had her ninth double-digit kill match of the year with 10, while Sunstrum and Capen added six each. Horio led the Frogs defensively with 13 digs and Sunstrum added 10.

TCU returns to action Friday at the TCU Molten Invitational. The Frogs face No. 3-ranked USC at 7 p.m inside the URC.
