FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Horned Frogs swept for the third straight time as they captured the Nike Invitational title with a 3-0 (30-22, 30-24, 30-25) win over Gonzaga. The title is the third straight for the Horned Frogs, who improve to13-2, matching their best start in school history. Kourtney Edwards nabbed her second consecutive MVP honor, while Lauren Otto and Calli Corley were named to the all-tournament team.

Blocking was the name of the game in the first set as the Frogs topped the Bulldogs 30-22 to take the early game. Gonzaga combined to commit 14 errors in the match, 12 of which came at the net. The Frogs stuffed Gonzaga six times in the set and racked up 14 kills. Otto's five blasts in the set led the Frogs.

Nirelle Hampton gave the Frogs a 1-0 lead and the Frogs never trailed from that point on. TCU battled through three times in the first 14 points but broke the game open with Otto behind the line. Three straight Bulldog errors gave the Frogs a 13-7 lead.

TCU continued to extend its lead with help from Edwards and LeMeita Smith at the net and an Edwards' kill. From there, the set was pretty even as the Frogs withstood a late rally by Gonzaga, closing the set on a 5-1 run. Back-to-back attack errors by Michelle Boevers sealed the victory.

A crisp effort by the Frogs in game two led the Frogs to the big 2-0 match lead. TCU pounded down 13 kills and racked up three aces to go along with four more blocks to earn the 30-24 win.

After giving up the first point, the Frogs went on a mini-run to take the lead, but the Bulldogs battled back to tie the game at nine. Back-to-back blocks by the Frogs gave them a two-point cushion, but again the Bulldogs were able to crawl back in the set to tie it at 15.

From there, the Frogs took over with a 7-3 run to open up a 22-18 lead. Kills from Otto and Edwards kept the Frogs in the lead and a service error by the Bulldogs gave TCU the 30-24 win.

Neither team could find a comfort zone in game three as the teams battled back-and-forth through 10 ties and eight lead changes. The game worked itself to a 21-20 TCU lead when the Frogs opened up a 3-0 run to take a four-point led. A kill and an ace from Irene Hester helped the Frogs find a comfort zone.

Gonzaga would creep back into the set at 25-24, but an Otto blast stunted the rally. Back-to-back aces from Otto sealed the victory.

Edwards and Otto paced the Frogs with 15 kills. Otto finished with a double-double with 11 digs. The Frogs defense chipped in with 11 blocks in the game.

The Frogs improve to 13-2 on the season. They return to conference action on Thursday night against Wyoming. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at the University Rec Center.
