Final Stats

NORMAN, Okla. - The TCU volleyball team suffered its sixth straight loss in the month of October as they dropped a 3-0 (25-23, 25-11, 25-17) decision to Oklahoma Saturday afternoon in Norman, Okla., at the McCasland Field House.

After the Sooners (13-10, 4-6 Big 12) climbed to a nine-point advantage in the first set, the Horned Frogs (10-10, 3-7 Big 12) fought point-for-point to bring it within one, 24-23, after holding off two set points. One final kill made the difference as it gave Oklahoma the set and momentum to control the second set. TCU ran up to an early 4-0 lead to start the third, but the strong Sooner offense was too much as they took the final set, 25-17 and the match.

Sarita Mikals led the team offensively with 13 kills and also picked up seven digs to become the 12th person in program history to reach over 1,000 career digs. Natalie Gower chipped in seven kills, while Ashley Smith and Regan McGuire each finished with six kills. On the defensive side, Kayla Scheevel was able to pick up 13 digs while Jillian Bergeson was good for nine digs.

Quotes of the Match
TCU Director of Volleyball Jill Kramer
Opening Statement
"The girls practiced really hard this week. We came out and did a lot of things well that we worked on and our offense was actually the best it has been in a while. We didn't take care of some details. We were in the net a few times, we missed quite a few serves in the first set and little things like that really made the difference.

"I think the way the second set started off, it wasn't great defensively on our end and I think it affected some things we did offensively. We made a couple of changes going into the third and we were clicking and got off to a really good start and then we started to make some little unforced errors. We have to be better. Oklahoma played a heck of a match and their numbers were awesome. Part of that was the way we were playing our game and we just have to get into the gym and keep getting better. The Big 12 is a great conference this year. There are a lot of competitive teams and Oklahoma is a well-coached team. They have also been working through some stuff and I think they came out and played great today. We will get back at it and get ready for Wednesday."
