FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU volleyball team dropped its final match of the 2013 season, as Texas Tech took a 3-0 (21-25, 23-25, 18-25) win Saturday afternoon in Lubbock, Texas.

The Horned Frogs (16-15, 4-12 Big 12) got a double-double from Alexia Heist and Ashley Smith for the match, but struggled offensively as the Red Raiders (10-22, 3-13 Big 12) swept TCU for the season series.

A kill from Ashley Smith gave the Frogs a 1-0 lead to start the match, but three kills and a block from Texas Tech gave the Red Raiders a 4-1 advantage. TCU fought back to regain the lead with a kill from Blaire Pickens and three straight blocks from Regan McGuire, but crucial errors by the Frogs put Texas Tech back into the lead as TCU was forced into a timeout trailing 15-12. The Red Raiders would keep the gap intact, before a kill from Pickens sparked a 5-1 run to put the set within three at 24-21. The lead proved to be too much as a kill from Jenna Allen ended the set at 25-21.

TCU once again found itself trailing 4-1 to start the second set, but a kill from Stephanie Holland put the Frogs on a 6-0 run. The Red Raiders closed the gap by capitalizing off of errors by TCU, as the teams began to trade points after a tie at 8-8. Trailing 20-18, a kill from Pickens followed by a block and kill from Smith put TCU ahead at 22-20, but Texas Tech did not back down and used a block from Allen and Aubree Piper to propel themselves to a 25-23 set two victory and a 2-0 lead in the match.

After two straight points from Texas Tech to start the third set, TCU once again used a kill and block from Holland, along with kills from Yvonne Igodan and Mattie Burleson to climb out to a 4-2 lead. The Red Raiders tied the set back up on multiple occasions, but after a service error by Breeann David, followed by two kills from Smith, TCU found itself ahead at 13-10. The Frogs continued to roll and took a 17-14, before a hitting error by TCU gave Texas Tech the momentum to finish off the set on a 11-1 run, as the Red Raiders picked up a 25-18 set three win.

Smith led all players with her 13th double-digit kill match, as the freshman recorded 12, while also chipping in 11 digs. Heist guided the offense with 16 assists, while also finishing with 13 digs. Shane Peters recorded her 21st double-digit dig match of the season with 15 digs, while McGuire came off the bench to record five blocks.

Today's match concludes the 2013 season for the team. TCU finishes the season with an overall record of 16-15 and 4-12 in conference play.
