Volleyball Signs Four to National Letters of Intent

FORT WORTH - TCU volleyball received four National Letters of Intent on Wednesday, the first day of the fall signing period, head coach Prentice Lewis announced.

The class features three players taller than 6-foot-0, including Natalie Gower, a 6-4 middle blocker from St. Louis. Regan McGuire (Flower Mound Marcus) and Shane Peters (Plano West) both come to TCU after playing at local club Texas Advantage Volleyball.

Big-hitting Ashley Smith is the lone outside hitter in the class and can play in all six rotations. From the Houston area, Smith attended Clear Creek High School in League City and played at the club level at Absolute Volleyball Academy of Texas.

"This will be the best class we've ever had at TCU," Lewis said. "We're getting height and every athlete is very physical. I'm very excited to see this class in the next couple years. They are dynamic, fast and give us some height."

With four seniors departing the program following the 2012 season, including a middle blocker, outside hitter and libero, the class fills the holes left in the lineup. Gower and McGuire are middle blockers, Peters is a defensive specialist/libero and Smith is an outside hitter.

"Natalie can hit on the outside and swing in the middle," Lewis said. "Ashley is a very-dynamic outside hitter who will fill that role very well. Regan will be able to go in at any time in the middle and Shane is an added defensive player."

With the addition of Gower, TCU's 2013 roster will feature players from four different states (California, Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas).
