Matthews Named Head Coach at Delaware

FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU volleyball assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Sara Matthews was named the head coach of the volleyball program at Delaware on Thursday afternoon.

Matthews, who earned a reputation as one of the nation’s top recruiters, leaves TCU after two seasons that saw appearances in back-to-back NCAA Championships and after bringing in’s No. 15 recruiting class in 2016.

“I think it's a sign of a healthy and thriving program when your assistants have opportunities like the one Sara has been afforded,” Director of Volleyball Jill Kramer said. “She's a great coach and has been a wonderful role model to all of the student-athletes we have coached and recruited together the past 5 years. We are excited to see all that's in store for Sara, Marcel and Avani as they make their way up to Delaware.”

TCU wrapped up the 2016 season by advancing to the second round of the NCAA Championship for only the second time in program history. Kramer earned win No. 100 in her career with the victory over Wichita State in the first round and Natalie Gower became the fifth All-America honoree in program history.
