McNeal Added to Volleyball Staff
Feb. 6, 2015
FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU Director of Volleyball Jill Kramer has announced the addition of Sha'Dare McNeal, a former NCAA National Champion and an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention honoree while at Texas, as the assistant coach for sand volleyball and the director of operations for indoor volleyball on Friday.
"In 2012, I watched the impact Sha'Dare had on her team as the lone senior for a national championship team. From the outside looking in, she seemed to be a great leader by example for her teammates," Kramer said. "She possesses all of the attributes we were looking for in this final addition to our staff and I believe that yet again, she will be a great leader by example for the TCU volleyball program.
"Our goal is to be a nationally prominent volleyball program, and we know that to do that we also need to be extremely competitive in the Big 12 Conference. I love the fact that everyone on our staff has strong ties to the Big 12 Conference and knows the landscape of the league very well, whether it be as a player, a coach or both."
McNeal joins the Horned Frog coaching staff after spending a year as a volunteer assistant coach at Wake Forest. Before joining the coaching ranks, McNeal played a year professionally in Bolozano, Italy, with Naruda Volley and played for the 2013 U-23 Women's National Team that finished fourth at the Inaugural 2013 U-23 World Championships in Mexico.
"I would like to thank Jill Kramer, Chris Del Conte and Chancellor (Victor) Boschini for this amazing opportunity in being part of the inaugural sand season and also the indoor program," McNeal said. "I am excited to get started with sand training and being part of Horned Frog Nation and building TCU into one of the top teams nationally and in the Big 12 Conference."
While at Texas, McNeal was a part of a team that won the 2012 NCAA Championship and made three Final Four appearances in her four years with the Longhorns. She received many accolades during her senior season as the team captain including her All-America honors. McNeal earned 2012 AVCA All-Central Region honors and was named to 2012 NCAA Volleyball All-Tournament Team after the Longhorns claimed their second National Championship in school history. Also during her senior season, she was named to the NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team and the 2012 All-Big 12 First Team.
McNeal also earned 2010 Academic All-Big 12 second team honors and was named to the 2010 Texas Invitational and Burnt Orange Classic all-tournament teams as a sophomore.
The San Diego, Calif., native came to Texas as the No. 5 rated recruit in the nation according to Prep Volleyball in 2009 and was a member of the Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 Selections. McNeal was also named an Under Armour High School All-America pick and honorable mention Mizuno/Volleyball All-America selection in 2008. In addition, she was a member of the United States Junior National Team that captured a gold medal at the 2008 NORCECA Women's Continental Championship in Saltillo, Mexico.
McNeal graduated from Texas in 2013 with a degree in applied learning and development with a minor in communication.
